As proud as I am as coach of my entire squad this season, if asked to single out one player it would have to be Mary Kate Reid. Mary Kate displayed leadership both on and off the court for varsity as well as our junior varsity team. Mary Kate gave 110% effort all season. MK's presence on the court down low will be surely missed. We here at Notre Dame Academy wish her all the best at the next level of play as well as in all of her future endeavors. Mary Kate it was a pleasure to coach you. :D Coach Carol L. Holton, NDA Basketball 2011-12
Great defense Dayna! You have assisted your team greatly by your effort. Keep working. Coach Holton
As the regular season draws to a close I am happy as coach to have worked with so many great young women. As I reflect on tonight's successful win over a very determined Immaculate Heart HS, I can say that I am proud of my WHOLE team. Thank you seniors, #12 Mallory Rawson, #5 Liz Mc Kinley, #10 Mary Kate Reid, and #30 Lauren Berg. We still have more games in us ladies so let's keep going. :) I am also excited that next year I will have the majority of this squad returning. Thanks to my administration, thanks to my coaches, thanks to my parents, thanks to all of those who support us. God bless, Coach Holton, NDA Basketball
Our NDA player of the week goes to captain Mallory Rawson. Mallory's 17 points versus Ramona really sparked her team to another Sunshine league victory over a much improved opponent. As the regular season draws to a close we expect this senior to help lead the way for us Regals to accomplish our season goals. Way to go Mal! :D Coach Holton
Our Regal Lady Gryphon of the week is Mari McCarthy. Mari stepped up big for us vs. St. Mary's of Inglewood. Mari I hope you see how capable you are and that you will continue playing this season with renewed confidence! Mari scored a season high 13 points. Think # 1, be # 1!
The recognition is player of the week. So I will talk about my player in a moment. I would like to mention the great team effort of Notre Dame Academy during our 2 game appearance at the Mission Prep Showdown. Hats off to all of my girls who played their hearts out representing their school. I love you guys! My player of the week is Kaylee Hage. Kaylee whose perimeter shooting was dormant for a while, came alive this weekend in San Luis Obispo for a combined 25 points. Kaylee we are glad you are back. Let's go!
This weeks NDA player of the week goes to Dayna Grundy. Dayna's tenacious defense is a great boost for our team. Dayna you're Gryphon awesome! COACH :)
Francesca Caruncho continues to come up trumps for us. :) Her crunch steal and finished lay-up help the Regal Lady Gryphons begin with a win in the first game in the West Coast Holiday Festival.
Hats off to Francesca Caruncho who along with Mary Kate Reid won All-Tournament team honors at the Valley Christian tourney in Cerritos. Francesca's leadership on the floor has helped lead the Regal Gryphon's to a 5-3 start of the season. Way to go Fran, and keep it up! COACH HOLTON
Lauren. I think of you last year in the Marina tourney and how sad it was to lose you. You are definitely back your senior year and your contributions to this team will be noteworthy. Good job! Coach Holton P.S Keep it up!
Starters proved their positions. Way to go , Lady Regal Gryphons! Great leadership Mary Kate! You are a true captain...already! Coach Holton :)
