Congratulations to Auri Diaz for being selected as Player of the Year. Auri was our Libero and the key to our defense this year. This was her first year as a Libero and really proved that she was the right choice. Having the smallest (shortest) team in the section meant that our back row couldn't count on our blockers to stop the other teams big hitters. Auri had over 300 digs this season. She never hesitated sacrificing her body to get to every ball. Many coaches, officials and spectators took notice of her and commented on her scrapy stile of play. Usually its the big hitters that get noticed but not this year. Auri at 5'4" was as "big" a player as anyone on the SLHS team. In addition to being an awesome Libero she was also our leading server. With 311 attempts she had 94.5 % accuracy and scored 163 serving pts.View Previous Selections
