Steve Tome has been named player of the year. "Steve Tome led the Laker offense with a .308 batting average and 6 extra base hits. His .556 on base percentage was also a team best. Tome tied for first in runs scored and second in runs batted in, third in stolen bases. His 21 walks to 8 strikeouts on the season was outstanding as well. Tome's emergence as a utility player was much needed for the inexperienced team. Tome was a first team gold glove outfielder in 2016 but was forced to pitch and play third base this season with some limited time in left field. Tome excelled at all positions to earn the most valuable player award in 2017."
