Hayley Metcalf has been named player of the year. "Hayley is an ideal No. 1, No. 2 hitter! A slapper with tremendous speed, she pressured opponents at every opportunity -- putting the ball in play and making good things happen for O'Connell. She's as good as it gets! And, at 3rd base, she's awesome -- taking away our opponents' short games and making all the plays. She had a tremendous year, in all aspects. Just love her game. Accolades at season's end included Team MVP, 1st Team All-League, 1st Team All-State and Better Sports Club of Arlington's 2014 Softball Sportsmanship Award winner besides receiving Outstanding Performance Award for .646 on base percentage and establishing a new school career record for stolen bases with 48 over four years (48 in 49 attempts) and single season (20-for-20 her junior year). A two-time 1st Team All-State selection."
