California High School Softball - Templeton can't get by King City
March 19, 2009: Templeton, CA 93465 In Thursday's non-league contest, the King City Mustangs (King City, CA) softball team held off the host Templeton Eagles (Templeton, CA), by a margin of 7-6.
With the triumph, King City moves its record to 1-1 on the year. The Mustangs host Coast Union (Cambria, CA) to play the Broncos in a non-league contest on Tuesday, March 24. The Broncos come into the contest with a record of 1-2.
In their next game, the Eagles play the Atascadero Greyhounds (Atascadero, CA) in a non-league contest, on Friday, March 20. Templeton will attempt to move on its 2-2 season record. The Greyhounds come into the contest with a 1-2 record after their 7-3 non-league win over Bakersfield Christian (Bakersfield, CA).
Game Summary
The Eagles lost a close one to the visiting King City Mustangs, 7-6. King City got on board in the first with an unearned run. Templeton plated three after Ford and Kimbrel scored, and Dutra followed suit with a triple and run scored. The Mustangs got another unearned run in the third with Muzylowski scoring on a passed ball. The Eagles got the run back in the third when Hunt hit an RBI groundout. In the bottom of the fourth Ford knocked in Bollman with a single to left. King City plated five in the 5th on two hits and a series of miscues. Hinton finished the game's scoring in the 6th when she knocked in Mosher, who had singled with one out.
