The Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX) football nudged the host Weslaco East Wildcats (Weslaco, TX), 28-24 in Friday's league bout.

In their next game, the Tigers face the Valley View Tigers (Pharr, TX) in a 4A Region IV District 32 bout, on Friday, October 30. Mercedes will attempt to move on its 5-3 season record. The Tigers enter the bout with a 1-7 record after their 27-24 league loss to Juarez-Lincoln (La Joya, TX).
