Utah High School Basketball - West thwarted by Lehi
December 2, 2014: Lehi, UT 84043 The West Panthers basketball squad (Salt Lake City, UT), was knocked off 88-78 in Tuesday's non-league bout with the host Lehi Pioneers (Lehi, UT)
With the win, Lehi upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Pioneers travel to Hunter (West Valley City, UT) to play the Wolverines in a non-league bout on Wednesday, December 3. The Wolverines go into the bout with a record of 0-2. Hunter lost 56-48 in their recent non-league bout against Murray (Murray, UT)
Next up, the Panthers play the Elko Indians (Elko, NV) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, December 4. West will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record.
First Quarter
Led by 12 points by Tanner Nygren in the first quarter, The Pioneers score a total of 18. West scored 21 points in the period and lead by the score of 21 to 18 as the second quarter starts.
Second Quarter
Both teams continued to score well and the score at the end of the first half is West 42 and Lehi 37.
Third Quarter
The third quarter belonged to Lehi outscoring West 25 to 13. The score at the end of three periods is Lehi 62 and West 55.
Fourth Quarter
West had a good fourth quarter scoring 23 points but the Pioneers came up with 26 of their own. The final score is Lehi 88 and West 78. Tanner Nygren lead all scorers with 39 points for the Lehi team. Marcus Draney had 17 and Jake Barnes added 13.
