Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Appomattox County Raiders (Appomattox, VA) and the visiting Amherst County Lancers (Amherst, VA), saw Appomattox County's basketball squad hold off Amherst County by a tally of 62-58.

With the victory, Appomattox County improves its record to 1-1 on the campaign. The Raiders host Campbell (Naruna, VA) to confront the Generals in a Dogwood challenge on Friday, January 5. The Generals come into the challenge with a record of 0-5. Campbell lost 58-42 in their recent league challenge against Altavista Combined School (Altavista, VA)

Next up, the Lancers confront the Heritage Pioneers (Lynchburg, VA) in a Seminole battle, on Thursday, January 4. Amherst County will attempt to better on its 7-5 season record.
