April 20, 2010: Wolf Lake, IL 62998 The Goreville Blackcats the host Shawnee Redskins baseball team by a count of 6-2 in Tuesday's league bout.
The Blackcats now possess a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they host Hamilton County for a Black Diamond bout on Thursday, April 22.
Next, the Redskins face the Dexter Bearcats (Dexter, MO) in a non-league bout, on Friday, April 23. Shawnee will attempt to move on its 9-7 season record. The Bearcats enter the bout with a 8-4 record after their 7-6 league win over Jackson (Jackson, MO).
Game Summary
The Redskins lost to Goreville 6-2 at home on Tuesday, and with the loss went most of their hopes of back-to-back SEC season titles. Tyler Glidewell (3-2) took the loss giving up 5 of the 6 runs (only two earned) as Shawnee committed two crucial errors that led to 3 Goreville runs. The offense mustered only 3 hits: Tyler Brant went 1-2, Aaron Lambdin 1-3 2 RBI, and Dylan Smith 1-3 with a double. Shawnee (9-6) travels to Chaffee, Mo. to play in the Red Devil Classic - an annual trek to Southeast Missouri to play some of the top talent in the area. They will take on a tough Dexter, Mo. team (8-4) and will have their work cut out for them if they are to end this 4 game skid. Greg Smith (3-1)is slated to start.
