Piedmont Panthers (Monroe, NC) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Union Academy Cardinals (Monroe, NC), 76-47 in a league bout.

With the win, Piedmont upgrades its record to 5-5 on the season. The Panthers travel to Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC) to encounter the Pirates in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 13. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 3-9.

Next up, the Cardinals encounter the Central Academy Cougars (Monroe, NC) in a 2A/1A Conference 11 bout, on Friday, January 15. Union Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 0-12 season record. The Cougars go into the bout with a 3-6 record after their 50-35 league loss to Berry Tech (Charlotte, NC).
