Game Summary
West Greene defeated a very talented Eastlake North team, from Cleveland Ohio, 14-3 in 5 innings. The girls were able to blow the game open a little with a big 3rd inning. After giving up a leadoff triple, Shelby Morris swung the momentum back to WG with a huge defensive pickoff of the girl at 3rd. Both teams had good pitching and the Lady Pioneers got on the board first when Mackenzie Carpenter drove in Makenzie Thomas with 2 outs in the 2nd. A couple of bunts opened the floodgate in the 3rd for WG, as the girls scored 6 runs to put pressure on Eastlake. Lexie Mooney capped the inning with a huge "just fair" double down the left field line with the bases loaded. Madison Lampe had a "Brooks Robinson Day" defensively at 3rd. She made play after play, and had an ESPN Sports Center moment with a beautiful back hand dive and put out. Jade Renner pitched extremely well, striking out 4 and walking only 1. She mixed pitches well and kept a potent line up off balance the whole game.
