El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) backers went home happy Wednesday as they saw their baseball squad edge the visiting Ripon Indians (Ripon, CA), 4-3 in a non-league battle.

Coming up next, the Gauchos play the San Leandro Pirates (San Leandro, CA) in a non-league battle, on Monday, April 2. El Capitan will attempt to move on its 7-2 season record. The Pirates enter the battle with a 5-5 record after their 6-3 league loss to Encinal (Alameda, CA).

The Indians now possess a 6-2 record. They take the field next when they host Hughson for a Trans Valley League battle on Friday, March 30. Ripon will play a Huskies squad coming off a 14-0 league loss to Modesto Christian (Modesto, CA). The Huskies record now stands at 5-3.
