North Carolina High School Basketball - Forsyth Home Educators fells Calvary Baptist Day
November 20, 2009: Winston-Salem, NC 27104 Forsyth Home Educators (Pfafftown, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad overcome the host Calvary Baptist Day Cougars (Winston-Salem, NC), 59-50 in a non-league bout.
With the victory, Forsyth Home Educators upgrades its record to 5-1 on the campaign. The host Davidson Home Educators (Davidson, NC) to play the in a North Carolina Home Education - West bout on Tuesday, December 1. The go into the test with a record of 0-1. Davidson Home Educators lost 43-39 in their recent non-league test against North Hills Christian (Salisbury, NC)
The Cougars now own a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to American Hebrew Academy for a NCISAA Triad test on Saturday, November 21.
First Quarter
Both teams started out slow, with a low scoring 8-4 first quarter. However, CBDS got into some early foul trouble.
Second Quarter
FHE came out very strong in the second quarter scoring 24 points. Most of these came off of steals or blocked shots. It was a very balanced attack for the Hawks. They ended the half with a Luke Branscomb 3ptr.
Third Quarter
FHE got into foul trouble in the beginning of the third. But the Hawks started the quarter with a big 3 pointer. CBDS made a good run bringing the score to FHE39 and CBDS32
Fourth Quarter
The fourth was a battle with CBDS putting on a run but FHE fought back making their free throws down the stretch. Frustration was evident when CBDS picked up a technical foul after the inbounds play. FHE never looked back.
