January 25, 2010: Chesterfield, VA 23832 The Meadowbrook Monarchs ran past the host Bird Skyhawks basketball team by a final score of 71-58 in Monday's non-league game.
In their next game, the Monarchs face the Prince George Royals (Prince George, VA) in a AAA Central game, on Friday, January 29. Meadowbrook will attempt to move on its 11-4 season record. The Royals enter the game with a 9-5 record after their 62-48 league win over Colonial Heights (Colonial Heights, VA).
With the defeat, Bird moves to 6-9 on the year. The Skyhawks host Huguenot (Richmond, VA) to face the Falcons in a AAA Dominion game on Wednesday, January 27. The Falcons enter the game with a record of 10-4. Huguenot won 65-61 in their recent league game against Manchester (Midlothian, VA)

Meadowbrook had the early 11-5 lead, but Bird battled back behind 6 from Brandon Williams and 6 from freshman, Robert Johnson to take a 15-11 advantage.
Second Quarter
Marvin King-Davis led Meadowbrook with 11 points as the Monarchs outscored Bird 29-14.
Third Quarter
Jaquan Daily led the Monarchs with 6 to help the Monarchs withstand an early Bird run which had cut the lead to 5 points.
Fourth Quarter
Daily scored 7 as the Monarchs maintained the lead throughout.
