August 30, 2013: San Marcos, TX 78666 The San Marcos HomeSchool Panthers football team (San Marcos, TX), was tipped 59-52 in Friday's non-league challenge with the visiting New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats (New Braunfels, TX)
The Wildcats (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Bastrop Tribe Consolidated (Bastrop, TX). The Warriors come into the non-league challenge with a 1-0 record. In their last challenge, Bastrop Tribe Consolidated nipped WINGS HomeSchool (Corpus Christi, TX), 56-6, in a non-league challenge.
The Panthers now sport a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Fort Worth THESA for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 6. San Marcos HomeSchool will meet a Riders team coming off a 70-65 non-league loss to Dallas Academy (Dallas, TX). The Riders record now stands at 0-1.
First Quarter
San Marcos Panthers opened the game with a kickoff return for 28 yards by #20 Colin Baker. The Panthers offense looked impressive as they moved the ball down the field with 3 first downs. #33 Jensen Collie completed 4 passes for 25 yards during that same possession. #36 Tyler Hand, #22 Dalton Banks and #20 Colin Baker also added on positive numbers for rushing during this try for a touchdown. The Panthers turned the ball over on downs at the Wildcats 9 yard line. The Wildcats scored a touchdown 6 plays later making he score 0-8. On the next series of downs, after #20 Colin Baker returns another kickoff , the Panthers got within 17 yards of a touchdown before the quarter ended with help from running backs #22 Dalton Banks and #36 Tyler Hand.
Second Quarter
The second quarter starts off with a touchdown ran in by #36 Tyler Hand bringing the score to 6-8. New Braunfels scored two plays plays later making it 6-16. The Panthers came back for a touchdown with runs from #20 Colin Baker and #36 Tyler Hand and a big pass play from #33 Jensen Collie to #34 Joshua Shultz and bringing score to 12-16. Four plays later New Braunfels took the score to 12-22. The very next play #20 Colin Baker runs a kickoff back for 75 yards for a Panther touchdown making it 18-22. After New Braunfels made their next touchdown #22 Dalton Banks blocked the attempt for a extra point kick bringing to a score now of 18-28.
Third Quarter
New Braunfels scored early in third quarter making it 18-34 but again was denied the extra point kick by #22 Dalton Banks. The Panthers ran the ball down to the Wildcat. 9 yard line again the next series of downs with help from quarterback #33 Jensen Collie and running backs # 22 Dalton Banks and #34 Joshua Shultz. The Wildcats came back for a touchdown a few plays later to make it 18-40 but the extra point was blocked again but this time by #51 Noah Gray. San Marcos has the ball for 8 plays and turns the ball over on downs. New Braunfels scores a few plays later and runs in the extra point this time to make it 18-47. The Panthers score in three plays after the next kickoff thanks to a 32 yard pass play from #33 Jensen Collie to #28 Cayde Heflin and a 26 run by #22 Dalton Banks making it 24-47. New Braunfels scores once again to make it 24-53. The next series San Marcos runs the ball to midfield before the quarter ends.
Fourth Quarter
The Panthers start off the 4th quarter with a touchdown run by #51 Noah Gray bringing it to 30-53. The Panthers score a safety with help from #34 Joshua Shultz to make it 32-53. San Marcos scores again after the next kickoff with runs from #22 Dalton Baker and #51 Noah Gray making the score 38-53. Two plays later #25 Branson Collie would recover a fumble to make it Panther's ball again on the Wildcats 17 yard line resulting in a touchdown 2 plays later and extra point from #36 Tyler Hand which brings it to 46-53. New Braunfels scores another 6 points to make it 46-59 but the Panthers did not give up. #51 Noah Gray returns the next kickoff for 26 yards. The next play #33 Jensen Collie passes to #30 Joshua Haiker for 14 yards. Two plays later #36 Tyler Hand runs for 25 yards and scores a touchdown and make it San Marcos Home School 52 – New Braunfels Christian Academy 59 which would be the final score.
