California High School Baseball - Vasquez wallops Lone Pine
April 27, 2012: Lone Pine, CA 93545 In Friday's league challenge, the Vasquez Mustangs (Acton, CA) baseball squad triumphed over the host Lone Pine Golden Eagles (Lone Pine, CA), by a final score of 10-0.
With the win, Vasquez upgrades its record to 10-7 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Silver Valley (Yermo, CA) to encounter the Trojans in a Desert Mountain challenge on Tuesday, May 1. The Trojans come into the challenge with a record of 6-7. Silver Valley lost 15-2 in their recent league challenge against Boron (Boron, CA)
With the defeat, Lone Pine falls to 9-7 on the season. The Golden eagles host Mojave (Mojave, CA) to encounter the Mustangs in a Desert Mountain test on Wednesday, May 2. The Mustangs come into the test with a record of 0-12. Mojave lost 22-0 in their recent league test against Desert Christian (Lancaster, CA)
Game Summary
Vasquez High School traveled to Lone Pine High School for a Desert Mountain League contest. The weather was fantastic. Low 70's and felt like the mid 80"s with no wind. It was also opening fishing season in the High Sierras - fish on!
The Vasquez Mustangs came away with their second straight shutout in league play winning 10-0. Jacob Musial put Vasquez on top with a long 3 run homer to leftfield with no outs in the top of the first. He would add a double later to finish 2 for 4 with 5 RBI's on the day. Frankie Linstrom and Garrett Berry each added 2 hits in the 10 hit offensive attack.
Lone Pine's Mike Cappello had a double to deep centerfield in the fourth inning.
Vasquez is now 6 - 2 while Lone Pine drops to 3 -4 in league play.
