Fans at Friday's league challenge between the LaPorte Slicers (LaPorte, IN) and the visiting Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN), saw LaPorte's basketball team get by Merrillville by a score of 71-69.

The Slicers now possess a 5-6 record. They play next when they host Plymouth for a non-league battle on Saturday, January 14. LaPorte will meet a Pilgrims team coming off a 61-51 league win over Concord (Elkhart, IN). The Pilgrims record now stands at 8-3.

The Pirates (6-5) will now prepare for their battle against Lake Central (St. John, IN). The Indians come into the Duneland battle with a 11-3 record.
