California High School Basketball - Millikan trounces Woodrow Wilson
February 1, 2013: Long Beach, CA 90804 The Millikan Rams (Long Beach, CA) basketball crushed the host Woodrow Wilson Bruins (Long Beach, CA), 73-40 in Friday's league test.
The Rams (23-2) will now prepare for their test against Lakewood (Lakewood, CA). The Lancers go into the Moore test with a 12-9 record. In their last test, Lakewood was trounced by Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA), 74-25, in a league test.
The Bruins now own a 13-11 record. They play next when they host Long Beach Poly for a Moore test on Tuesday, February 5. Woodrow Wilson will encounter a Jackrabbits squad coming off a 50-39 non-league loss to Troy (Fullerton, CA). The Jackrabbits record now stands at 20-4.
First Quarter
It was a long night for the Bruins. With Illness and Injury all around the Bruins just could not get going tonight. The Bruins would trial 19-8 after first quarter.Jasmin Todd had 4 of the Bruins points. Michaela Reed was working hard but had one of those nights when the Ball would go in and come back out.
Second Quarter
In the second quarter Janelle Porter would score 5 points and Reed would add 4 points. But Todd was in foul trouble, Porter was battling the flu, Erica Garrett was injured and did not dress, Reed was playing on a bad wheel, and the list would grow longer. Still the Bruins fought. The Bruins shots would not fall and Millikan could not miss. End of the half was 37-22.
Third Quarter
In the third Reed would score 6 of the Bruins 8 points. Mary Small went down to a shoulder injury and the Bruins fell further behind. End of quarter 57-30.
Fourth Quarter
The fourth was more of the same as Tyra Monette would go down to injury. The Bruins would lose the game 73-40. Reed would finish with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Porter would finish with 6 points 4 rebounds and 3 assist. Todd would finish with 6 points.
