Coming up next, the Highlanders encounter the Simi Valley Pioneers (Simi Valley, CA) in a non-league test, on Friday, April 9. Royal will attempt to improve on its 14-3 season record. The Pioneers enter the test with a 13-1 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Washington Union (Fresno, CA).
The Bears (19-1) will now prepare for their test against Madera (Madera, CA). The Coyotes enter the Tri-Rivers test with a 9-10 record. In their last test, Madera by Hanford (Hanford, CA), 4-3, in a non-league test.
Game Summary
Nancy Bowling pitched a complete game shutout to increase her record to 10-1. She gave up only 1 hit in the 7th inning and struck out 15 batters to hand Buchanan it's first loss of the season. Buchanan is now 20-1 after this loss. Ali Mosier went 1 for 3 with a double and the game winning RBI in the 3rd and Katelyn Tollefson squeezed in a run in the 5th. Montanna Harrington went 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored. This was the Semi-Final game of the Arroyo Grande tournament and Royal went on to win the championship game over cross town rival Simi Valley 4-0 to give Simi Valley there 2nd loss of the season to go to 15-2. Both losses were to Royal.
