Ohio High School Baseball - Dover defeats Tuscarawas Valley
April 5, 2012: Zoarville, OH 44656 Dover Tornadoes (Dover, OH) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the host Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (Zoarville, OH), 8-1 in a non-league test.
With the win, Dover upgrades its record to 5-2 on the season. The Tornadoes travel to Meadowbrook (Byesville, OH) to battle the Colts in a East Central Ohio - Gray test on Monday, April 9. The Colts come into the test with a record of 0-1.
With the defeat, Tuscarawas Valley falls to 2-8 on the season. The Trojans travel to Sandy Valley (Magnolia, OH) to battle the Cardinals in a non-league test on Saturday, April 7. The Cardinals come into the test with a record of 3-0.
Game Summary
Taylor Koop took a perfect game into thr fifth inning but lost it on a two out infield single. Koop (1-0) went six innings for his first win of the year allowing only the infield hit and striking out 10 Tusky Valley hitters in an 8-1 Tornado victory. It marked the fifth win in a row for the Tornadoes after losing their first two games.
Cathcher Jack Birtcher paced the 12 hit attack with a pair of doubles while Josh Zucal had a double and single and Derik Swinderman chipped in with two singles.
