California High School Basketball - Archbishop Mitty routs Saint Francis
February 3, 2015: San Jose, CA 95129 In Tuesday's league outing, the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs (San Jose, CA) basketball squad overwhelmed the visiting Saint Francis Lancers (Mountain View, CA), by a count of 59-27.
The Monarchs (16-3) will now prepare for their outing against Carondelet (Concord, CA). The Cougars go into the non-league outing with a 18-2 record.
The Lancers now hold a 9-10 record. They play next when they host Notre Dame for a West Catholic outing on Friday, February 6. Saint Francis will clash with a Tigers squad coming off a 58-41 league loss to Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, CA). The Tigers record now stands at 10-9.
First Quarter
The game started real slow for the Monarchs as the St. Francis Lancers took a 11-10 lead. For the Lancers their leading scorer did not play as one of the Monarchs player Jahnay who was injured against Sacred Heart Cathedral. Her status is game by game.
Second Quarter
The second quarter Mitty got going and the Lancers went cold both shooting and rebounding. Highlight was Daniella (Guglielmo) hitting 3 three pointers and helping the team out score St. Francis 17-5 and taking a 27-16 lead.
Third Quarter
Third quarter proved to be good for the Monarchs and disastrous for the Lancers, who manage to score only 2 points. It was Mitty's domence of the boards and their pressure defense that held the Lancers in check thru out the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Final quarter continued to be bad for the Lancers. They did score 9 points but Mitty scored 16. The final out come was 59-27. Leading scorer was Daniella with 12 points. Three other Monarchs scored 8; Madeline, Harika and Tahlia. Monarchs rebounding proved to be in their favor. 39-17. Turnovers were Mitty 11 and St. Francis 15.
