Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Patton Panthers (Morganton, NC) and the visiting Burns Bulldogs (Lawndale, NC), saw Patton's basketball squad hold off Burns by a score of 56-54.

With the victory, Patton improves its record to 5-12 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Freedom (Morganton, NC) to battle the Patriots in a 3A/2A South Mountain challenge on Tuesday, January 22. The Patriots come into the challenge with a record of 11-3. Freedom lost 69-55 in their recent league challenge against East Rutherford (Forest City, NC)

Next up, the Bulldogs battle the Rutherfordton-Spindale Central Hilltoppers (Rutherfordton, NC) in a 3A/2A South Mountain challenge, on Friday, January 18. Burns will attempt to improve on its 2-9 season record. The Hilltoppers come into the challenge with a 9-8 record after their 92-61 league loss to Shelby (Shelby, NC).
