In Friday's non-league match, the host Independence Patriots football squad scored a good 20-6 victory over the West Mecklenburg Hawks.

In their next game, the Patriots clash with the Vance Cougars (Charlotte, NC) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 18. Independence will attempt to move on its 2-2 season record. The Cougars enter the match with a 3-1 record after their 41-34 non-league loss to South Pointe (Rock Hill, SC).
