Georgia High School Basketball - Dougherty trounces Southeast Bulloch
December 16, 2017: Albany, GA 31705 The Dougherty Trojans (Albany, GA) basketball crushed the visiting Southeast Bulloch Yellowjackets (Brooklet, GA), 103-63 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Trojans (8-3) will now prepare for their test against Americus-Sumter (Americus, GA). The Panthers go into the non-league test with a 8-1 record. In their last test, Americus-Sumter walloped Crisp County (Cordele, GA), 76-44, in a non-league test.
The Yellowjackets now own a 0-9 record. They play next when they travel to Westover for a non-league test on Monday, December 18. Southeast Bulloch will encounter a Patriots squad coming off a 68-59 non-league win over Glynn Academy (Brunswick, GA). The Patriots record now stands at 7-4.
First Quarter
Dougherty emerged victorious 103-63 against Southeast Bulloch on Saturday on the strength of Rod Jones, who scored 27 points. Dougherty Trojans Varsity grabbed the lead against Southeast Bulloch (Brooklet, GA) on a three-pointer from Jones in the second period and held on.
Claiming a 45-36 lead at the half, Dougherty pulled ahead early in the game. Dougherty increased their lead late in the game, putting 31 points on the board in the fourth quarter on the strength of a 12-4 run.
Great play from the field made Jones stand out, as he made 52% (11-for-21) of shots attempted as well as 38% (5-for-13) of threes attempted.
Kian Kerlegon (15 points), Dralandius Davis (11 points), and Jordan Hunter (6 points) each had multiple three-pointers.
