The South Caldwell Spartans basketball team scored 57 points and restricted the visiting Hickory Red Tornadoes to 56 in the Spartans league victory on Tuesday.

The Spartans now sport a 7-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Freedom for a Northwestern 3A/4A contest on Friday, January 6. South Caldwell will battle a Patriots team coming off a 77-46 league win over Watauga (Boone, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 10-1.

The Red Tornadoes (6-3) will now prepare for their contest against Statesville (Statesville, NC). The Greyhounds come into the non-league contest with a 8-3 record. In their last contest, Statesville edged North Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC), 82-54, in a league contest.
