Mississippi High School Basketball - New Site edges Canton

January 25, 2014: Booneville, MS 38859

The New Site Royals (Booneville, MS) basketball nipped the visiting Canton Tigers (Canton, MS), 45-40 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Royals (15-6) will now prepare for their test against Mantachie (Mantachie, MS). The Mustangs go into the 2A Region 1 test with a 6-6 record. In their last test, Mantachie got by Hatley (Amory, MS), 63-51, in a league test.

The Tigers now own a 17-4 record. They play next when they travel to Neshoba Central for a 5A Region 3 test on Friday, January 31. Canton will encounter a Rockets squad coming off a 26-25 league win over Ridgeland (Ridgeland, MS). The Rockets record now stands at 10-7.
