Mississippi High School Basketball - Bassfield can't hold off Poplarville

The Poplarville Hornets basketball team scored 60 points and held the host Bassfield Yellowjackets to 55 in the Hornets non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Hornets now sport a 5-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Columbia for a non-league contest on Friday, December 23. Poplarville will battle a Wildcats team coming off a 54-40 non-league win over East Marion (Columbia, MS). The Wildcats record now stands at 4-6.

The Yellowjackets (1-4) will now prepare for their contest against West Lincoln (Brookhaven, MS). The Bears enter the 2A Region 7 contest with a 6-7 record. In their last contest, West Lincoln was nudged by Wesson (Wesson, MS), 52-51, in a non-league contest.
