Ohio High School Volleyball - Northview nudged by Anthony Wayne
September 22, 2016: Sylvania, OH 43560 The Anthony Wayne Generals volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the host Northview Wildcats to 2 in the Generals league victory on Thursday.
The Generals now possess a 9-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Findlay for a non-league game on Saturday, September 24. Anthony Wayne will meet a Trojans team coming off a 3-1 league loss to Whitmer (Toledo, OH). The Trojans record now stands at 5-9.
The Wildcats (8-4) will now prepare for their game against St. Ursula Academy (Toledo, OH). The Arrows enter the non-league game with a 11-1 record. In their last game, St. Ursula Academy nipped Notre Dame Academy (Toledo, OH), 3-0, in a league game.
Match Summary
SYLVANIA - In the third meeting of the season between Anthony Wayne and Northview, the second match in NLL play, the Generals were able to fight off another 5 set victory over the LadyKats, 20-25, 25-16, 25-12, 22-25, 15-10, moving Northview to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the NLL.
Leading for Northview was senior Sydney Boerst, with a team-high 16 kills, hitting .325, 17 digs and 3 solo blocks. Also leading for Northview was freshman Hannah Frame, who has really turned it on as of late, and junior Rachel Phalen each with 12 kills. Junior libero Paige Beck led the team with 23 digs, while junior setter, Aly O'Lenic, dished out 45 assists.
The LadyKats travel to Perrysburg this Saturday, September 24, 2016 for the Inaugural Black and Gold Invitational where they will play St. Ursula at 9:00am in the first match of the eight team tournament.
