Delaware High School Basketball - Dickinson nudges St. Elizabeth
December 7, 2012: Wilmington, DE 19808 In Friday's non-league outing, the Dickinson Rams (Wilmington, DE) basketball squad edged the visiting St. Elizabeth Vikings (Wilmington, DE), by a count of 44-43.
The Rams (3-1) will now prepare for their outing against Howard (Wilmington, DE). The Wildcats go into the Blue Hen Flight - B outing with a 3-0 record.
The Vikings now hold a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Concord for a non-league outing on Friday, December 14.
First Quarter
B. Joyner scored 5 of his game high 22 points to get the Dickinson Rams (3-1) out to a quick lead. St. E's offense was static and their turnovers were many as they scored only six points in the quarter.
Second Quarter
Sophmore Mike Piekarski led the Vikings second quarter surge with 7 points to pull them into a halftime tie on the Dickinson home court.
Third Quarter
The Vikings again started slow and allowed the Rams, once again fuled by 10 points from Joyner to take a 7 point third period lead.
Fourth Quarter
Andre Patton scored six of his team high 18 points in the fourth period to lead the Viking Comeback and a 43 to 42 lead. K. Spencer Taylor of the Rams scored the game winning basket with less than a minute to play. The Vikings had the opportunity with a game winning attempt from the elbow as time expired by Joe Schiavoni that went in and out. Andre Patton had his 4th consecutive Double/Double with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Sophmore Mike Piekarski had his first career double/double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
