With the win, Wekiva upgrades its record to 1-0 on the year. The Mustangs travel to Colonial (Orlando, FL) to play the Grenadiers in a non-league bout on Thursday, August 27. The Grenadiers go into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Match Summary
The Mustangs were looking to begin the season on a high note, and that's just what they did Tuesday night as they opened against the Edgewater Eagles and defeated them 3-1.
It was a slow start for Wekiva, struggling to find momentum early in the match and dropping the first set 16-25. But the Mustangs started to hit their stride in the second set where, after trading the lead several times with the Eagles, Wekiva was finally able to pull out the win 26-24.
With the momentum now in their favor, the Mustangs edged out the third set 25-21 and closed strong with a 25-15 victory in the fourth. Senior Nia Ervin led the team in double figures with 10 kills and five service aces. Junior Dasia Fisher was not far behind with seven kills and two aces.
