Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Penn Wood thwarted by Berks Catholic
January 18, 2014: Reading, PA 19611 The Penn Wood Patriots basketball team (Lansdowne, PA), was toppled 50-40 in Saturday's non-league battle with the host Berks Catholic Saints (Reading, PA)
The Saints now possess a 13-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Wyomissing for a non-league battle on Tuesday, January 21. Berks Catholic will confront a Spartans team coming off a 60-48 non-league loss to Daniel Boone (Birdsboro, PA). The Spartans record now stands at 9-6.
The Patriots (10-2) will now prepare for their battle against Philadelphia Electric Charter (Philadelphia, PA). The come into the non-league battle with a 10-6 record. In their last battle, Philadelphia Electric Charter beat Great Valley (Malvern, PA), 52-48, in a non-league battle.
Fourth Quarter
At Geigle Complex, Nana Foulland scored 20 points and had 14 rebounds and Connor Jack had 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Saints (13-3) held off the Patriots (10-2) in the Play-by-Play Classic.
The win was the eighth straight for the Saints.
Cooper Kutz was named BC MVP after a superb defensive job on Malik Jackson, who scored just five points, 18 below his average.
The Saints scored the first 12 points of the game and led by as many as 17.
