New Mexico High School Basketball - New Mexico Military Institute overwhelmed by Hope Christian
February 7, 2017: Roswell, NM 88201 The New Mexico Military Institute Colts basketball team (Roswell, NM), was overwhelmed 63-12 in Tuesday's league battle with the visiting Hope Christian Huskies (Albuquerque, NM)
The Huskies now possess a 14-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Los Alamos for a non-league battle on Saturday, February 11.
The Colts (1-4) will now prepare for their battle against Moriarty (Moriarty, NM). The Pintos come into the battle with a 9-2 record.
First Quarter
Both teams started strong and saw the lead change hands 4 times. A Colt Uphold 2 pointer from inside the lane moved the Hushies ahead at 7-6 and Hope never trailed again.
Second Quarter
Hope's strong defense held NMMI scoring to 2 free throws in the 2nd quarter, while Hopes offense got hot and scored 26.
Third Quarter
Hope's defense held NMMI to 2 points in the 3rd quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The 4th quarter slowed down as both teams went deep into their benches. Luke Scarpa and Trent Philips led Hope scoring in the game with 10 pts each.
