Florida High School Basketball - Central overwhelms Inlet Grove
January 3, 2017: Fort Pierce, FL 34981 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Central Cobras (Fort Pierce, FL) and the visiting Inlet Grove Hurricanes (Riviera Beach, FL), saw Central's basketball squad wallop Inlet Grove by a tally of 100-57.
With the victory, Central improves its record to 10-3 on the campaign. The Cobras host Pahokee (Pahokee, FL) to confront the Blue Devils in a non-league challenge on Friday, January 6. The Blue Devils come into the challenge with a record of 2-4.
Next up, the Hurricanes confront the Lake Worth Trojans (Lake Worth, FL) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, January 4. Inlet Grove will attempt to improve on its 3-10 season record. The Trojans come into the challenge with a 7-2 record after their 56-55 non-league win over Leon (Tallahassee, FL).
First Quarter
Ft. Pierce shot over 50% from the field, had a very aggressive defense and ended up hitting 4-3 pt. shots to take a 12 point lead. Calvin Bryant led the way with 7 points
Second Quarter
Central continued their aggressive defense that lead to 6 lay-ups to go with 3-3 pt. shots to take a commanding 44-25 halftime lead. Cameron Hicks had a very telling 12 points in the quarter.
Third Quarter
Both teams ran up and down the court very convincingly as both teams pressed each other and scored a lot of uncontested layups. Central mad 5-3 pt. shots to continue their lead 69-51. Malik Dunn had 12 points, including a 40 ft. shot at the buzzer!
Fourth Quarter
Coach Maxon got all players in the game and the Cobras responded with 31 points in the quarter for a very convincing 100-57 victory after over 10 days off for Central. Reggie Dotson knocked down 2-3 pt. shots and Dylan Torello got a very aggressive offensive rebound put back to hit the 100th point.
