Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Hempstead Bobcats (Hempstead, TX) and the host Franklin Lions (Franklin, TX), saw Hempstead's basketball squad wallop Franklin by a tally of 60-36.

With the victory, Hempstead improves its record to 15-5 on the campaign. The Bobcats travel to Cleveland (Cleveland, TX) to play the Indians in a non-league challenge on Saturday, December 29. The Indians come into the challenge with a record of 12-4. Cleveland won 56-48 in their recent non-league challenge against Brenham (Brenham, TX)

Next up, the Lions play the McGregor Bulldogs (McGregor, TX) in a 3A Region III District 19 challenge, on Friday, January 4. Franklin will attempt to improve on its 10-6 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 3-16 record after their 60-53 non-league loss to Moody (Moody, TX).
