Mississippi High School Basketball - Picayune nudges Stone

Picayune Maroon Tide (Picayune, MS) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Stone Tomcats (Wiggins, MS), 70-63 in a league bout.

With the win, Picayune upgrades its record to 13-8 on the season. The Maroon Tide travel to Pearl River Central (Carriere, MS) to encounter the Blue Devils in a 5A Region 6 bout on Friday, January 14. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a record of 6-9. Pearl River Central won 52-51 in their recent non-league bout against St. Patrick (Biloxi, MS)

Next up, the Tomcats encounter the Wayne County War Eagles (Waynesboro, MS) in a 5A Region 6 challenge, on Friday, January 14. Stone will attempt to improve on its 7-14 season record. The War Eagles come into the challenge with a 17-1 record after their 77-50 non-league win over Hattiesburg (Hattiesburg, MS).
