Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Verona Hillbillies (Verona, NJ) and the visiting Fair Lawn CUTTERS (Fair Lawn, NJ), saw Verona's basketball squad hold off Fair Lawn by a score of 52-49.

With the victory, Verona improves its record to 8-4 on the campaign. The Hillbillies travel to Immaculate Conception (Montclair, NJ) to play the Lions in a Super Essex - Independence challenge on Monday, January 23. The Lions come into the battle with a record of 2-8. Immaculate Conception won 48-41 in their recent league battle against Cedar Grove (Cedar Grove, NJ)

The CUTTERS (4-10) will now prepare for their battle against Ramapo (Franklin Lakes, NJ). The Raiders come into the Big North - VI battle with a 1-8 record.
