December 12, 2014: Dublin, CA 94568 In Friday's league battle, the visiting Miramonte Matadors soccer squad scored a close 5-0 triumph over the Dublin Gaels.
The Matadors (1-2) will now prepare for their battle against Dougherty Valley (San Ramon, CA). The Wildcats come into the Diablo Foothill battle with a 1-3 record. In their last battle, Dougherty Valley was overwhelmed by Heritage (Brentwood, CA), 1-0, in a non-league battle.
The Gaels (1-4) will now prepare for their battle against San Leandro (San Leandro, CA). The Pirates come into the non-league battle with a 1-3 record. In their last battle, San Leandro Tennyson (Hayward, CA), 1-1, in a league battle.
Game Summary
The Lady Mats defeated their Dublin Gael opponents Friday night 5-0. The first half was exemplary possession with one goal by Elise Ziem. In the second half the Mats attacked relentlessly, scoring 4 more goals. The defenders shut down every one of the Gael’s attacks, leading to the decisive victory. Midfield held their own and effectively supported both the defenders and the forwards. In the second half, Ceci Gee turned on the speed and scored a hat trick with one brilliant dribble around the keeper. Kati Tuemmler was player of the game because Kati was always in the right place at the right time and was able to strategically distribute the ball throughout the field.
