Minnesota High School Basketball - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop knocked off by New Ulm Cathedral
January 23, 2018: Winthrop, MN 55396 The New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds basketball team scored 68 points and held the host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds to 57 in the Greyhounds league triumph on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds now sport a 13-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Springfield for a Tomahawk contest on Friday, January 26. New Ulm Cathedral will battle a Tigers team coming off a 76-66 league win over Cedar Mountain/Comfrey (Morgan, MN). The Tigers record now stands at 13-1.
The Thunderbirds (3-11) will now prepare for their contest against St. Mary's (Sleepy Eye, MN). The Knights enter the Tomahawk contest with a 0-15 record. In their last contest, St. Mary's was defeated by Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (Hector, MN), 87-73, in a league contest.
