Michigan High School Soccer - Lutheran South knocks off Summit Academy
May 26, 2011: Newport, MI 49166 The Summit Academy Dragons soccer team (Romulus, MI), was crushed 5-0 in Thursday's non-league game with the host Lutheran South Saints (Newport, MI)
With the victory, Lutheran South advances its record to 10-3 on the campaign.
In their next game, the Dragons clash with the Central Academy Falcons (Ann Arbor, MI) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, May 31. Summit Academy will attempt to advance on its 0-3 season record.
Game Summary
On May 26, the Lady Saints concluded regular season play by defeating non-conference opponent Summit Academy 5-0. The rain-soaked field and horrible weather conditions favored no one as the game was 0-0 at half. However, the Lady Saints were able to put together some scoring chances in the second half and scored 5 goals in a 15-minute span. Juniors Savannah Diroff and Chelsie McNett scored 2 goals a piece, and sophomore Sabrina Broska added a lone goal (which proved to be the game winner). Sophomore Molly Roebke made 3 saves to secure the shutout. The Saints end the season with a school career in wins and their first MIAC Red conference championship with a record of 10-3-1 (6-1-1).
