September 8, 2016: Martinez, GA 30907 The Augusta Christian Lions volleyball team (Martinez, GA), was dropped 3-1 in Thursday's league challenge with the visiting Heathwood Hall Episcopal Highlanders (Columbia, SC)
The Highlanders (2-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Cardinal Newman (Columbia, SC). The Cardinals enter the SCISA AAA Region I challenge with a 10-5 record. In their last challenge, Cardinal Newman defeated Hammond (Columbia, SC), 3-0, in a league challenge.
Next, the Lions meet the Lakeside Panthers (Evans, GA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, September 9. Augusta Christian will attempt to move on its 1-4 season record. The Panthers enter the challenge with a 12-3 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Westside (Augusta, GA).
Match Summary
The ACS Lions have always played close matches with Heathwood Hall. This one started off in favor of the Lions, however, Heathwood Hall quickly turned up their short serves resulting in a breakdown of the Lions. After the second set the Lions were unable to refocus as they lost the next three set. The Lions look to new challenges this weekend as they play in the Augusta Prep Classic against some of the top schools publci and private schools in the area.
