Lake Central Indians (St. John, IN) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN), 16-1 in a league challenge.

The Indians now sport a 17-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Valparaiso for a Duneland challenge on Wednesday, May 13. Lake Central will face a Vikings squad coming off a 11-9 league loss to Chesterton (Chesterton, IN). The Vikings record now stands at 5-15.

With the loss, Merrillville falls to 2-10 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to East Chicago Central (East Chicago, IN) to face the Cardinals in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 13. The Cardinals enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. East Chicago Central lost 18-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Illinois Lutheran (Crete, IL)
