Illinois High School Basketball - Mt. Zion nips Clinton
January 30, 2018: Clinton, IL 61727 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Mt. Zion Braves (Mt. Zion, IL) and the host Clinton Maroons (Clinton, IL), saw Mt. Zion's basketball squad hold off Clinton by a count of 39-32.
With the victory, Mt. Zion upgrades its record to 6-19 on the campaign. The Braves host Lincoln (Lincoln, IL) to play the Railsplitters in a Apollo challenge on Monday, February 5. The Railsplitters come into the challenge with a record of 19-8. Lincoln won 64-36 in their recent league challenge against Taylorville (Taylorville, IL)
Next up, the Maroons play the Sullivan Redskins (Sullivan, IL) in a Central Illinois challenge, on Thursday, February 1. Clinton will attempt to upgrade on its 11-14 season record. The Redskins come into the challenge with a 12-11 record after their 78-32 non-league win over Cerro Gordo/Bement (Cerro Gordo, IL).
