The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC) and the visiting Porter Ridge Pirates (Indian Trail, NC), observed Sun Valley's football squad edge Porter Ridge by a count of 28-25.

The Spartans now own a 2-2 record. They play next when they travel to Myers Park for a non-league contest on Friday, September 18. Sun Valley will confront a Mustangs team coming off a 14-7 non-league loss to South Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC). The Mustangs record now stands at 2-2.

With the loss, Porter Ridge moves to 0-3 on the season. The Pirates host Olympic (Charlotte, NC) to confront the Trojans in a non-league outing on Friday, September 18. The Trojans go into the outing with a record of 1-2. Olympic won 21-6 in their recent non-league outing against Hopewell (Huntersville, NC)
