In Tuesday's league outing, the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) basketball squad nipped the visiting Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC), by a margin of 55-52.

The Mountaineers (15-6) will now prepare for their outing against Madison (Marshall, NC). The Patriots go into the 2A/1A Western Highlands outing with a 4-17 record. In their last match, Madison nudged Avery County (Newland, NC), 36-34, in a league match.
