Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Lakewood Lancers (Lakewood, CA) and the host Rio Mesa Spartans (Oxnard, CA), saw Lakewood's basketball squad knock off Rio Mesa by a score of 68-59.

With the victory, Lakewood improves its record to 9-5 on the campaign. The Lancers travel to Wilson (Long Beach, CA) to battle the Bruins in a Moore challenge on Wednesday, January 5. The Bruins come into the challenge with a record of 6-7. Wilson lost 52-45 in their recent non-league challenge against Roosevelt (Seattle, WA)

Next up, the Spartans battle the Canyon Cowboys (Canyon Country, CA) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 4. Rio Mesa will attempt to improve on its 9-6 season record. The Cowboys come into the challenge with a 12-3 record after their 56-34 non-league loss to Ventura (Ventura, CA).
