In Friday's non-league match, the host Shelby Golden Lions football squad scored a big 49-13 victory over the Polk County Wolverines.

In their next game, the Golden Lions clash with the Madison Patriots (Marshall, NC) in a non-league match, on Friday, November 16. Shelby will attempt to move on its 8-5 season record. The Patriots enter the match with a 12-1 record after their 14-7 non-league win over Owen (Black Mountain, NC).
