Game Summary
Scoreless through two innings, the top-seeded Knights capitalized on a pair of big innings -- erupting for eight runs in the third inning and another six runs in the fifth frame en route to a convincing 14-0 win over McNamara in the WCAC semi-finals at The Academy of The Holy Cross on Thursday afternoon.
As has been the case so often this spring, it was the bottom of the order that got things going for O'Connell. Meadow Sacadura got it started, lacing a ground-rule double over the fence to straightaway center field. Lyndsay Flippin walked the pitcher for a base on balls in an eight-pitch at. Sophia Rzonca, who was courtesy running for Sacadura, and Flippin executed a double steal, putting both runners into scoring position. Nine-hitter Julia Jones delivered big time, dumping a single into short right-center -- plating both Rzonca and Flippin.... 2-0, DJO. A two-run home run by Kathryn Sandercock, and doubles by Patty Maye Ohanian and Flippin were the big hits in the inning.
