New York High School Football - Clarence beaten by St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute
September 14, 2013: Clarence, NY 14031 St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders (Buffalo, NY) fans left the game satisfied Saturday as they observed their football team run past the host Clarence Red Devils (Clarence, NY), 35-13 in a non-league test.
With the win, St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute improves its record to 2-0 on the season. The Marauders host Cardinal O'Hara (Tonawanda, NY) to confront the Hawks in a Monsignor Martin test on Saturday, September 21. The Hawks go into the test with a record of 1-0. Cardinal O'Hara won 30-28 in their recent non-league test against Nichols (Buffalo, NY)
With the loss, Clarence moves to 0-2 on the season. The Red devils travel to Orchard Park (Orchard Park, NY) to confront the Quakers in a Section 6 AA test on Friday, September 20. The Quakers go into the test with a record of 1-1. Orchard Park lost 33-27 in their recent league test against Lockport (Lockport, NY)

ST. Joe's had 5 offensive possessions in the half. First 4 went for scores while the 5th ended the half at midfield. Total of 6:00 minutes of possession, 16 plays for 314 yds and the 4 scores.
Sophomore QB Mike McCarthy was 4/5 passing for 117 yds and the 1 TD pass. His lone incompletion was a dropped ball.
Clarence had 184 yds of offense. 88 on the ground behind Emaure Williams running and 96 passing. 67 of those yds coming on the TD.
Third Quarter

St. Joe's second team offense and defense started the half and played all 24 minutes of action.
Fourth Quarter

Joes ended the day with 393 yds on offense, most before halftime. While Clarence moved the ball some in the 2nd half, ending the day with 377 yds, (281 on the ground) they had just one score in the final ticks of the game clock.
St. Joes recorded 4 turnovers on D. 1 interception and recovering 2 fumbles and a successful onsides kick after their first score in the 1st. quarter.
Strong play by SJCI second team on offense included Jr. Vincent Gregory with 38 yds rushing and Sr. QB Jalen Brandy running the spread offense effectively.
Defense in the half was led by Jr. Peter Duff with 4Ts, Jr.. Dan Gaulin 4 Ts and Peter Masters with an interception. Jr. Mike Meyer showed no quit as he ran down a Clarence runner from behind, making a shoe string tackle inside the Joe's 10 yd line in the last minute.
Overtime
Sr. Nigel Davis now has 6TDs on the season (5 run, 1 reception) a 2 pt reception and 3 PAT kicks for 41 points. He has rushed for 375 yds(32 att.) and 3 catches for 42 yds.
Sr. Rod Payne ended his day with a pedestrian 35 yds rushing on 3 carries (1TD), a reception for 32 yds, while laying the lumber on defense with 7ts, 2 for a loss.
Sr. Anthony(AC)Castellani, playing his childhood buddies and in front of friends and family, played big on defense with 10 Ts, 2 for a loss. The tackle for a loss on a Clarence screen play can still be heard in his hometown of Clarence, as he upended the runner with an intense hit, and put him on his backside.
As reported by the Buffalo News, it was a great night for WNY high school football. Clear crisp, autumn like weather played before 2-3,000 fans at Clarence under the lights. Our Marauders did not disappoint our traveling Rowdies student section as they came out flying early on both sides of the ball.
