California High School Softball - Torrey Pines bounces Vista
April 5, 2012: Vista, CA 92084 Spectators at Thursday's non-league match between the Torrey Pines Falcons (San Diego, CA) and the host Vista Panthers (Vista, CA), witnessed Torrey Pines's softball squad prevail over Vista by a count of 10-0.
The Falcons now sport a 18-1 record. They play next when they host Mira Mesa for a non-league match on Saturday, April 7. Torrey Pines will meet a Marauders squad coming off a 5-3 non-league win over Santana (Santee, CA). The Marauders record now stands at 13-1.
With the loss, Vista moves to 1-10 on the season. The Panthers host San Marcos (San Marcos, CA) to meet the Knights in a Avocado - East match on Wednesday, April 18. The Knights go into the match with a record of 9-4. San Marcos lost 5-3 in their recent non-league match against Rancho Buena Vista (Vista, CA)
Game Summary
The Torrey Pines Falcons advanced to the championship bracket semi-finals in the 28 team Falcon Fiesta Softball Tournament by defeating the Vista Panthers 10-0 in 5 innings yesterday at Vista High school. Torrey Pines banged out 16 hits in the contest including 2 long Home Runs. Senior Lauren Hynes (Boston University) and Freshmen Carolyn Lee combined to throw a 2 hit shut out for the Falcons. The Offense was led by Junior, Kaitlin Schreiber who went 3-3 with a run scored, her 2nd home run of the season and 4 RBI's. Sophomore, Kelsey Buchanan went 3-4 with a run scored, a Double, and she hit her 3rd Home Run on the year while driving in 3 runs. Emily Wolking (2-3), Taylor Lee (2-3) and and Lauren Hynes (2-4) all had multi hit games for the winners. Torrey Pines will host Mira Mesa on Saturday April 7th at 9:00 A.M in one semi-final contest while Ramona will play West Hills at 11:30 @ Torrey Pines in the other semi-final game with the winners meeting at 2:00 in the finals.
