North Carolina High School Basketball - Elkin overwhelmed by Wilkes Central
January 2, 2018: Wilkesboro, NC 28697 The Wilkes Central Eagles basketball team scored 68 points and restricted the visiting Elkin Elks to 40 in the Eagles league victory on Tuesday.
The Eagles now sport a 6-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Ashe County for a Mountain Valley 1A/2A contest on Friday, January 5. Wilkes Central will battle a Huskies team coming off a 57-25 non-league win over Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC). The Huskies record now stands at 5-6.
The Elks (2-12) will now prepare for their contest against North Wilkes (Hays, NC). The Vikings come into the Mountain Valley 1A/2A contest with a 13-2 record. In their last contest, North Wilkes triumphed over Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC), 60-36, in a league contest.
